So…my culture has been one of colonization and poisoning of the world for centuries. This does not feed my spirit and I don’t relate to it. So now I guess I need to go further back in time. Does anybody know anything (especially spiritually) about what what-is-now Western Europe was like before Christianity or Judaism etc etc.?
Your pain is the breaking of the shell that encloses your understanding.
Even as the stone of the fruit must break, that its heart may stand in the sun, so must you know pain.
And could you keep your heart in wonder at the daily miracles of your life, your pain would not seem less…
it’s time to read the prophet
These dudes have been the soundtrack to my rebirth and reconnection with life so many times I can’t count. Every year I find more depth and relate to what they say in new ways. Thank you thank you thank you so much.
I love that at first she thinks it’s misogynistic, and isn’t afraid to call him on it, but then we see him do what we almost never see a male superhero do : He admits he’s scared.
He’s not trying to belittle her, he’s not trying to tell her or even the kids that they’re not strong,
He’s trying to protect what he loves most because he’s terrified of losing them. The big, giant robot ripping apart BUILDINGS doesn’t scare him at all compared to losing what he loves.
I love this movie for so many reasons, but this scene is one of the bigger ones. A hero movie where the males are allowed to be emotional without appearing weak? A hero movie where females are allowed to be strong without being callous or woefully 2D? A hero movie where children are allowed to explore their potential instead of being shitty sidekicks?
That’s called ‘husbands, wives, and parents done right’ people.
And the female superheroes had costumes(/amor) as equal and strong as their male counterparts. None of that exposed skin bullshit. Nothing wrong with exposed skin, dont get me wrong, but its a major handicap when taking down villains.
And the whole organization of super heroes had a matriarchal figure in the badass costume constructing grandma.
